After 50 years together Stan still adores
his wife… so why is he dating again?

Bonnie and Stan are looking forward to the best years of their life. Newly retired, they have a To Do list as long as the fridge and a brand new dream house to build, but when Stan’s ‘routine tests’ show a terrible shadow on his liver it sends all their plans into darkness.

Stan cannot bear the thought of leaving Bonnie. All his life he’s devoted himself to looking after her and now, when it really counts, he will have to leave her alone. Or will he…?

Without telling his wife, Stan sets out to find someone to take his place when he’s gone but it proves to be a tough and painful quest and in the end the answers to their fading future may be more in the past than in the present.

Set in modern day Wirral and Liverpool in the early sixties, this is a book about a life lived together and the pain of tearing that apart. It’s about what goes into making us the people we are and the partnerships we form and, ultimately, it’s about what it means to love fully and unconditionally.
